You could be having a really bad day but is it fair to ruin everyone else's just because you're grumpy? No it certainly is not!
It is unreasonable to allow our bad moods to affect the people around us, yet we do it every single day. Our bad day becomes someone else's, which makes us the topic of discussion at someone else's dinner table or the reason they can't sleep at night. Does this make us feel any better? It shouldn't! Productivity falls and nobody wants to be around us and even worse spouses or partners will tell them to look for another job to make their lives easier! We spend more time at work than we do at home... our colleagues become our extended family! My advice - Talk to your colleagues, let them know you are upset, angry, happy, sad or excited. You don't have to air your dirty washing with them but at least warn them of the reason why they're getting their heads bitten off! If you're having a bad day let them help you feel better, don't shut them out or treat them badly. Who knows... hearing about their bad day might make you feel better!
